This website has been designed to be
compatible with a wide range of browsers. Therefore it has employed
simple HTML, no complex Java applets, transparent GIFs and simple page
formatting. Nevertheless, optimal viewing will still be system
dependent.
To provide transparent image
compatibility the site employs GIF imagery rather than the superior PNG
format used in the prototype, at some expense in the sharpness of the
embedded text. Some browsers unfortunately still cannot render
transparent PNGs properly. A Flash plugin will be required for
embedded video footage, and a PDF plugin for Adobe PDF format files.
Graphics are mostly JPG, PNG and some GIF, the latter as noted to
accommodate
problems in certain browsers.
A large fraction of the imagery has been adjusted in contrast and
brightness to maximise image quality when viewed on a typical computer
display with typical gamma correction values.
Text font size has been set to
HTML default. Unfortunately with user displays varying in size from
800x600 up to 1920x1080 pixels, and a range of different possible
browsers, no specified font size will display the same on all browsers
and systems. We therefore suggest that you use the browser's
facility to set font size for viewing to a value which is comfortable
for you (empirical experience suggests that a 1280x1024 display format
is comfortable with IE/XP).
In August, 2007, all fonts were standardised to UTF-8 to accommodate
constraints on our provider's web server. In most browsers this will
result in automatic recognition of non-Latin fonts. If this does not
occur, please configure your browser accordingly.
Some browsers experience problems with large HTML tables, which can
impact rendering of some pages on a browser. While every effort has
been made to correct tables which disagree with common browsers, we
cannot guarantee that page formatting will always be flawless on every
type of browser.
APA recommends the use of Mozilla/Firefox, Chrome or Safari as the
preferred browsers for
this
website
as they have exhibited no observed problems in displaying the text or
graphics.
